Just as the iconic Fender Telecaster and Gibson Les Paul are known as two of the earliest production solid body guitars, Paul A. Bigsby’s guitars are truly the ground zero.
At a quick glance, everything from the similar scale and body contouring of the Les Paul to the headstock, tuners, controls and maple neck of many a heralded Fender are apparent.
While these features are found far and near on guitars to this day, the timbre and feel of this Bigsby is truly unique. Every note has balance, weight and snap, the neck feeling full and wide with a very comfortable V profile and just the right weight from the maple body for sitting without any dive in either direction. The two single coil pickups are extraordinarily quiet and fat, transferring the resonance of the set neck construction peerlessly.
With original vintage examples being exceedingly rare and coveted, this BY-50 comes from the very limited run in 2003 by Gretsch and made to the very same, impeccable standard.
