Our relationship with Maton Guitars stretches all the way back to 1972 when our proprietor, in his first job as a teenager working for the Maton distributor, took regular calls from Mr Bill May, principal of Maton Guitars, and the founding father of the Australian guitar-making industry.
Mr May would be delighted with his guitar's evolution. He'd be amazed at the 21st century production values and logistics, and proud of Maton's transition into a green and lean operation with a focus on sustainability.
Legends of Australian music such as Paul Kelly, Archie Roach, Diesel and the late Slim Dusty are synonymous with the brand, as are international stars Tommy Emmanuel, Keith Urban, Neil Finn, Courtney Barnett and Tash Sultana. Photos of Elvis Presley, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones with Maton guitars are easily found.
Brand loyalty for Maton is phenomenal across the music community, and in fact the late Malcolm Young of AC/DC acquired his mint condition 1959 Maton Mastersound MS-500 from us in the 1990s. Today, the quality and consistency is better than ever, and the love for Maton Guitars is at an all-time high.
