In 2016 Boss disrupted the amplifier market with the mighty Katana, giving all levels of guitar players an intelligent, affordable, and very musical go-to amp. The brilliant Katana MkII appeared in 2019 and continues to be our hottest seller. Everyone knows about the reliability and innovative nature of Boss pedals. They released the first chorus pedal. They invented the looper. And you know they're most likely working on another game changer right now.
In 1976, Boss released their first dedicated guitar foot pedal effect, the legendary CE-1 Chorus Ensemble. It was a bulky AC-powered unit that still sounds refreshingly good, if you can find one. In 1977 the classic Boss stomp-box format was released, and it continues today with the ubiquitous metal chassis, rubber foot and FET switching. Even the most boutique and esoteric pedalboards will usually have a Boss unit or two in there somewhere.
Q: I'm thinking of buying a pedal for a young guitar player. Which one should i get?
A1: Since most amps have an acceptable distortion/overdrive section, reverb and delay will open up new worlds for the young player if their amp is lacking in this.
A2: Whilst more a device than an effect, the affordable Boss RC-1 Loop Station is a bit of a miracle in advancing a young player's technique and creativity. We'd recommend this.
